Between June and September this year there are a number of unique opportunities to Live God’s Love at the heart of our communities, not as spectators on the edge.

Here’s a snapshot, follow the links in the text or the external links on the right hand side for more information.

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations (2nd - 5th June)
opportunities for street parties, Big Lunch,The Big Thank You, bell ringing and beacons

The Albantide weekend (23rd and 24th June)
the Alban Pilgrimage and Open Church Sunday

The Olympic Torch Relay (May - July)
in our diocese 7th – 9th July

The Olympic Games (27th July – 12th August)
opportunities for hospitality and service, outreach and faith sharing

The Paralympics (29th August – 9th September)
a chance, in term time, to take further the engagement over the summer

Back to Church Sunday (30th September)
a personal invitation is the secret

Here are three questions to ask as you explore these possibilities:

  • How can we participate fully?  How can we be at the heart of the celebrations and working in partnership in our communities?
  • How can we take practical action?  How can we serve and welcome others, offering the love of God to guests and neighbours?
  • How can we proclaim the message of Christ?  What are the opportunities for people to explore the values and story of the Christian faith and to hear the call of Christ on their lives?
